University Honors Program Requirements

Members of the University Honors program represent the best and brightest of students. Today's market is a competitive one, and everyone is looking for an edge to set them apart from their peers. Through your experience in our honors program, you will earn marketable skills that will attract attention. The entrance requirements for this program speak to this end and have undergone some changes. Below are entrance requirements for this program:
Incoming Patriot Scholars Criteria
- A score of 1200 on the SAT or a 26 on the ACT
- A 3.5 high school GPA
- School and community activities, honors, and awards
- At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher
- Essay (response to a prompt selected by the UHP Director)
Continuing Patriot Scholars Criteria
- Completion of at least 30 credits, but not more than 60 credits
- 3.5 RMU GPA
- Personal statement indicating the student's goals and expectations
- Goals Statement (in which students discuss their educational and career goals and how being in the UHP would assist them in accomplishing those goals).
- Letter of recommendation submitted by an RMU faculty member
Transfer Patriot Scholars Criteria
- Completion of at least 30 credits with a GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Consideration of the type of transfer institution (e.g. two-year, four-year, technical)
- Consideration of previous participation in an Honors Program
- Amount and type of honors work completed
- At least one letter of recommendation from a professor
- Feasibility of completing the program
- Quality of application
