Financial Aid

Attending college can be a big step for a student. It requires both a personal and monetary commitment. Often times, financial assistance is needed to help fulfill that obligation. Last year, more than 80 percent of RMU's students received some level of financial aid.

To request financial aid, students are required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Before filing the form, the student and parent must complete a PIN request and must have a recently completed 1040 tax return. First-time applicants are encouraged to complete their application as soon as possible after January 1. The filing deadline for all Pennsylvania residents is May 1.

Financial aid awarded includes grants, scholarships, loans, and federal work-study programs.

Freshmen Opportunities

RMU offers incoming freshmen a wide variety of financial aid options to assist them with financing their education. Our goal is to provide you with a quality education that is affordable.

  • Gift Aid is free money that does not have to be repaid and consists of grants, scholarships, and merit-based awards.
  • Self-Help Aid is financial aid that is either earned or repaid and can include Federal Stafford loans, Federal PLUS (parent) loans, alternative education loans, and student employment.
