- A:No, it is always wise to apply for financial aid as soon as possible after January 1st. This helps insure that you meet required financial aid deadlines. In addition, you may list up to six school choices, too. All six schools listed will receive your federal financial aid information. The school you listed first will receive both the state and federal information.
